Third Time’s the Charm?
Last week, I released my novella, Seeker, into the world. It’s my third release. I’m quite proud of it, but I feel it’s also a bit of a milestone. You see, one of the refrains in the writing community is that a deep backlist helps sell books. The theory goes that if someone likes one of your books, they’ll check out the rest of them. Ergo, the more books you’ve released, the more you can sell to a single customer.
With this third release, my backlist is finally starting to take shape. It’s an exciting idea, one which is welcome, given the difficulty of indie publishing. I’m optimistic that with another release or two, things may snowball, and I’ll finally gain some traction/momentum.
It is a marathon, after all, not a sprint.
