Growing up on Johnstone Station, an ore processing facility in the far-flung reaches of human space, Daylin Reece had two options to survive: toil in the mines on the planet below, or turn to the station’s lucrative black market. Choosing to lead a life of crime, Daylin is eventually caught and prosecuted, sentenced to a remote and harsh penal colony. But en route to the prison world, a spatial rift sends Daylin’s transport across the galaxy, where it crashes on a deserted planet, with Daylin the only survivor.

After years of being marooned in unexplored space, Daylin is found by Seeker, a sentient starship with a mission to seek out new life. Daylin vows to use this second chance as a way to atone for his past. Aboard Seeker, he finds a vibrant community with members of other races Seeker has rescued. But beneath the surface, questions nag at Daylin. Something about Seeker’s mission doesn’t quite add up, and an chance battle with another ship exposes a secret that will forever alter Daylin’s life.
