Big changes
Hello! It’s been some time since my last update. In that time, I’ve made some big decisions about my writing and my author career. I’ll make a separate blog post exploring the feelings and thoughts behind everything, but the big announcement is this:
Starting in December, I will offer free eBooks of all my novels and novellas through this website. They will be listed in both epub and PDF format. And again, they are absolutely 100% free. No strings attached.
If a person feels inclined to support me, or they really loved what they read and want a physical copy, paperbacks will still be available for purchase. And I’m going to start a Buy Me a Coffee so people can donate whatever they want. But there are no expectations that these things will happen. They’re there if people want to use them, and the support would certainly be nice, but I won’t be looking for handouts.
I’ve been getting the website ready, and I have to wait until my current term on Kindle Unlimited expires (yes, even if I unpublish my eBooks, which is stupid, but that’s Amazon for you).
The bottom line is that 1) I want people to read my work, and 2) I want this to be fun. The current system wherein everything is subject to the almighty algorithm just ain’t cutting it. It’s sapped the joy out of everything. So I’m reclaiming it. I’m rejecting the system. I’m personally excited about never having to check my dashboards again. Talk about freedom!
On a personal note, my son turned 1 this month. It’s wild that I have a toddler now. It seems like just the other day that we brought him home from the hospital and were figuring out how to keep him swaddled. Now he runs up and down the hall practicing his sounds and words. Physically, he looks like an entirely new person. I suppose he is. And I suppose that means we’re doing something right as parents if he’s grown so much.
Life is a wild ride. I hope it always is. Live long and prosper, folks.
